Fort Young Hotel & Dive Resort on the southwest coast of Dominica is a waterfront hotel which unites luxury and history. The hotel blends the features of a historic fort dating back to 1699 with modern amenities, exclusive dining experiences and expanded dive operations. Located in the small, French-style capital of Roseau, it is ideal as a base for families, couples and those seeking to explore the ‘Nature Island’.

Fort Young Hotel currently has 99 guest rooms and suites that boast contemporary style and design, whilst reflecting the rich history of the property. Many rooms and suites offer stunning ocean views, whilst some face towards the island's lush, mountainous interior. Rooms are split between the original, historic building, and a newly constructed section set just behind.

Palisades restaurant offers al fresco dining accompanied by wonderful views, offering a fusion of contemporary and traditional cuisine with an emphasis on local ingredients. Warners Bar & Restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner in a casual, oceanfront setting, and is also the perfect spot to watch the sun go down with a cocktail in hand.

Facilities at the hotel include an infinity pool, along with a fitness centre, yoga facilities and a spa. The concierge team is happy to arrange a variety of activities including trips to go whale watching or hiking on the island’s many trails. Guests can easily explore Roseau on foot, reaching the city's historic French quarter in around 10 minutes as well as botanical gardens and nature trails. A little further away are a number of mountain lakes and spectacular waterfalls, while picture-perfect beaches can be reached by boat in under 20 minutes. Fort Young Hotel has its own fully equipped dive centre and a private jetty from which boats are able to collect guests.

There is a ferry from Dominica to St Lucia, Martinique and Guadeloupe for those interested in a twin centre holiday.

Fort Young is an ideal base from which to explore the beautiful island of Dominica. It's location near Roseau means that you are near the quay for whale watching trips, and it is only a short drive to several of the waterfalls. I loved the style and decor of the rooms - my room was very spacious and the bed was incredibly comfortable.

Hotel Information

Children: Children are welcome at Fort Young Hotel and one child stays free of charge when sharing with a parent. Guests can arrange babysitting and children’s activities for a charge locally.

Check in/Check Out: Guests are invited to check in from 3pm and are asked to check out by 12pm.

Leisure Facilities: Fort Young has an infinity swimming pool, an ocean deck, Jacuzzi, a small fitness centre overlooking the ocean, art gallery displaying local pieces, gift shop and Zemi Spa offering an oceanside oasis for relaxation. The hotel also has a private jetty and its own dive centre with two dive boats for guests to arrange an excursion to explore the waters surrounding Dominica.

WiFi: There is WiFi in the public areas of the hotel and guests can enjoy complimentary WiFi access in their room or suite.

Room service: Room service is available daily between 7am - 10pm.

Location: Fort Young Hotel is located on the Southwestern edge of Dominica and situated directly on the waterfront. Guests can easily walk to several restaurants, bars, and shops.

Meal arrangements: Guests can choose to stay on a bed and breakfast, half board, full board, or an all-inclusive basis.

Dining: Fort Young Hotel offers a variety of restaurants and bars to suit all tastes. The Palisades Restaurant serves up classic and inventive dishes which showcase the natural ingredients of the island with panoramic ocean views. Jacko's Poolside Lounge serves drinks and local cuisine throughout the day and transforms on Wednesday and Friday evenings into a lively destination for dancing under the stars. Warner's Bar, located below The Palisades Restaurant and with views to match, offers a relaxed and casual seaside setting serving an array of traditional and more inventive cocktails throughout the day and evening. Marquis Bar and Lounge is located in the old troops' barracks and features the original fort walls giving it a unique and historic ambience and Museum Cafe serves local Dominican coffee and freshly baked pastries in an intimate setting.

Accommodation

Each room or suite at Fort Young Hotel has a flat screen TV, air conditioning, ceiling fans, a telephone, an in-room safe, a small fridge, coffee maker and a bathroom with a shower.

Fort Mountain View Room: Located in the renovated historical section of the property and offering captivating views of the capital and surrounding mountains. These rooms feature either a king-size or twin beds, modern bathroom, and balcony with mountain views.

Fort Ocean View Room: Decorated in the same style as the Fort Mountain View Rooms these rooms also offer a king-size or twin beds as well as contemporary bathroom but offer stunning ocean views from their balcony.

Oceanfront Room: These rooms are more spacious than the Fort Rooms and feature a king-size or twin beds, a large bathroom, and an expansive balcony with beautiful views over the ocean. These rooms can also interconnect making them ideal for families.

Deluxe Oceanfront: Located on a higher floor, these spacious rooms feature either a king-size or twin beds, a large bathroom, and a generous balcony with elevated views over the ocean. These rooms can accommodate up to two adults and two children.

Oceanfront Junior Suite: With far reaching ocean views these spacious suites feature either a king-size or twin beds, sitting area and large modern bathroom as well as a balcony and kitchenette.

Oceanfront Suite: These suites are large and feature a bedroom with king-size bed, a walk-through dressing room and two bathrooms featuring both a whirlpool bath and a shower. Guests can also enjoy a separate living and dining area, kitchenette, and a large balcony with stunning ocean views.
